Get Me Some of that London Love
London has always held a special place in my heart. When I graduated from high school in Greece, I was accepted into a Study Abroad program through New York University, and London was the city I chose to study abroad in. I met some of the most amazing people that til this day are my best friends. We were a group of international people with worldly experiences and we took London by storm. Now, it was freshman year of college, so everything was an experience! haha!
I had the opportunity to return to London for about a week to see my ride or die babe, Niki Llakmani. We’ve been best friends since we were 12 and even though we live on opposite sides of the world, we always try to make the effort to see each other at least once a year. So, when I booked my ticket to London, I planned on staying with her for a week and we had an amazing time. It was a throwback to college when I used to crash at her place all the time, watch movies until we knocked out, and then wake up and spend the day together. Never take your friendships for granted. Even if you don’t see them everyday, knowing that they are there, anywhere in the world, having your back, is priceless.
What made London even more fun was the fact that my parents came midway into the week. While Niki worked, I would spend the day either working on my online course or exploring London. I am a bit of a Broadway nut, so the most exciting thing I experienced was watching Hamilton, the Musical. I can’t even begin to tell you how long I have been dying to see that show. In New York City, it is almost impossible to find tickets, and if you do, they are so expensive. One ticket can go for thousands of dollars in NYC. You could actually travel to London, buy tickets, stay in a hotel for a night or two, and return back to states, and that whole weekend could still be cheaper than an NYC Hamilton ticket. It’s insane. I also found it very interesting watching Hamilton in London, considering the musical is about the United States separating itself from England. Words can’t describe how talented the cast was and how it pulled on all the heart strings.
Aside from Hamilton, we took a tour around Oxford Circus, checked out Buckingham Palace, and explored the Sherlock Holmes Museum. It was so much fun exploring London, a city I think of as my third home.
